I met Will in 1997 in San Francisco where he was busily making these ingenious little works in hand-made white frames that all went together in a bigger piece called “Ago,” and he didn’t think much of anything. Like Joe Brainard before him, he has a weakness for doing pieces for poets’ books, and his career has undoubtedly suffered because of it. Things seem to be looking up, though; he’s gone through several bands lately, and has a book of drawings on Owl Press called Evidence of the Paranormal that are accompanied by poems by various poets in it (including many in this series). He’s got a show opening at Pond Gallery in San Francisco with David Larsen at the end of September this year.
Lana Boroditsch and Will were living together in the same apartment they’d been living in for years in the Lower Haight last time I checked. Lana makes pretty music on her reel-to-reel.
